ACAMAR Workshop

ACAMAR Workshop on Maunakea Spectroscopic Explorer (MSE) and Future MOS Facilities

The ACAMAR Workshop on the Maunakea Spectroscopic Explorer (MSE) and Future MOS Facilities is targeted at developing and enhancing Australia/China relations on the MSE project. MSE is an international US$450M project to deliver the world’s first 10m-class dedicated spectroscopic survey telescope, led by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) consortium, with Australia and China as key partners each committed to delivering critical technology infrastructure. The project is presently in its Preliminary Design Phase, anticipating facility operations to start in the early 2030s. The goal of this workshop, held over three days (August 25-27, 2021), was to share activities and interests in the Australian and Chinese communities in the area of multi-object spectroscopic science and technology, to bring our communities closer together, and enhance our shared work toward making MSE a reality.
